About the Event

Finding Saola in the wild will be a challenge, and one pillar of our strategy will be the deployment of highly trained detection dogs to find Saola signs in the forest. This has tremendous promise - the noses and the detection talents of dogs approach the unbelievable.  For this project we have partnered with the organization Working Dogs for Conservation, based in Missoula, Montana USA (www.wd4c.org). Please join us online Saturday, February 19 for a fascinating, live talk by the Executive Director of Working Dogs, Dr. Pete Coppolillo:  "If anyone can find a unicorn, it's a dog". In his presentation, Pete will share some examples of the extraordinary abilities of conservation detection dogs, and explain how they will help us find, and thus save, Saola. He’ll share relevant stories and experiences from the work of detection dogs in North America, Africa, and Asia. Pete's talk will be about 40 minutes, followed by some time for audience Q&A. You'll find your local time for the talk below. The event is free, but advance registration is required, which you can quickly do here.
